Bike Ride, Walk & Drive July update

It is now only two months until the 2026 Bike Ride, Walk & Drive on Saturday 12th September. Have you been thinking about how you can take part and fundraise?

What inspires me to participate are the medieval churches on every skyline, marking each village, town, and every part of the city of Norwich. They are a key part of the Norfolk experience for me especially at this time of year when Norfolk is at its summer best.

Why do you love our churches and chapels? Is it their history, architecture, their place in our communities or something else? If you can describe your commitment, that is the first step in fundraising. I mention my passion for Norfolk Churches all the time and I have often been surprised by who shares my interest, and I will invite those people to support my fundraising ride in September.

You could create a brief narrative to use in emails, in person and on social media if you use it. Try just three short sentences. First, say what Norfolk’s churches mean to you, second invite others to join you through sponsorship, and finally, explain how to give directly to you or through JustGiving. Moreland family, plus main image

Last year the Moreland family used JustGiving. Here is what they said,

We will be cycling between as many churches in Norfolk as possible, aiming for at least 5, to raise money for St Helen’s & St Edmund’s Churches in Costessey and the Norfolk Churches Trust.

And then… We did it! 20 churches, 25.27 miles and just under 6 hours out and about.

They raised £280 from 18 supporters, smashing the £200 goal they had set. Well done Team Moreland!

It is not just cyclists who take part in the event, we have had our fair share of runners over the years too.

Like Ruth Logan who also set up a JustGiving page.  Here is what she said,

Running Ruth Logan

I always have to be different! I’m planning to run, taking in 10 local churches, and running about 36.5 km (22.5 miles).  Whether you value our village churches as places of worship or for their historical significance, please sponsor me!

She raised £500 from 26 supporters, smashing the £200 goal she had set.  Well done Ruth!

So, with just 61 days to go, register online HERE and invite others to join you on the day or with sponsorship.

If you are unable to take part this year, but would still like to support the event, you can donate here.

Thank you for your love of Norfolk’s unique church heritage and thank you for doing all you can to keep these buildings open for the benefit of all.

Hilary and the 2026 Bike Ride, Walk & Drive team.
