Marilyn Williams raises money for Hunstanton churches.

The Bike Ride sponsorship has surpassed the 2021 total!

£131,758 has now been received and it is thanks to people like Marilyn Williams who year on year make the Bike Ride such a success. Marilyn is 77 and cycled 43 miles and visited 26 churches on the day on her small fold-up bike, she emphasises one without any electric power, just her own steam. She has raised the impressive sum of £500 for the Union Church, Hunstanton.

Though now an ex-pat, having emigrated to Liverpool, Marilyn still loves Norfolk the county she grew up in and says, ‘it’s great to be able to do something towards the upkeep of our beautiful Norfolk Churches.’ She visits the county regularly and loves doing the bike ride.

Her route took her from Union Church, Ringstead, after a brief rain shower, Sedgeford, where she met a few other cyclists, round the Burnhams and downhill (what a relief) to Burnham Deepdale then home, tired but not worn out!

She would especially like to thank A E Wallis Cycle shop in Heacham, who not only serviced her bike for free, but came out at 9am to check it was in working order as his shop was closed. She would also like to mention Wild Ken Hill for their very generous donation and members of the Sedgeford Table Tennis Club and the members of the Union Church and neighbours who sponsored her. Of course, the bike ride would not be so successful without those in the background who support and sponsor our valiant riders.

26 churches and 43 miles later – tired but not worn out!

Marilyn hopes to beat her record next year.
