Debbie Thackray is setting out to walk the 178-mile London to Walsingham Camino in memory of her parents Derek and Phyllis. She will be raising money for the upkeep of Norfolk Churches which were so close to their hearts, especially St James the Great, Castle Acre, where they are now buried.
Debbie, pictured above in Australia where she now lives will start the walk on Saturday 14th September and is hoping to complete her challenge in 14 days.
Her father Derek helped found the Friends of Castle Acre Church and for many years he did the annual Bike Ride raising considerable sponsorship. He is pictured here cycling away from St James’ on one of those rides.
Finally, an image of Debbie and Derek, who was 87 years young at the time, pictured here at Swaffham when they did the Bike Ride together in 2017.
We think that this is a fantastic commitment, and we are grateful that Debbie is making such an effort on the Trust’s behalf, we wish her well in her efforts.
