Bishop Bishop is doing the Bike Ride!

No, you are not seeing double, and forgive the alliteration, but the Bishop of Thetford, the Rt Revd Ian Bishop is going to be taking part in his first Norfolk Churches Trust Bike Ride & Walk.

This is his first opportunity to participate since being appointed in September 2023, and he wants to take part this year to thank the Trust for the immense work they do supporting our amazing churches. Therefore, Bishop Ian is planning a route from Wymondham Abbey to Attleborough St Mary’s, via nineteen village churches, including a pit stop in Hingham for lunch.

He plans to set off at 9am and if anyone would like to join him, please do contact him in advance at bishop.thetford@dioceseofnorwich.org.  He says ’I’m no cyclist, so it will be slow.’  We say slow and steady is fine, what better way to take in the beautiful Norfolk countryside.

Discussing the importance of the Bike Ride’s fundraising mission, Bishop Ian said:

“Norfolk Churches Trust do an amazing job helping to care for the hundreds of stunning Churches around the Diocese. Coming into Norfolk last September I have become increasingly grateful for the work the Trust do, and I know many of our Churches have benefitted from grants that have helped to preserve the remarkable mission that happens in and around our parishes.”
