Bike Ride Newsletter – October 2025

The Norfolk Churches Trust and the Bike Ride, Walk & Drive team would like to send out a heartfelt thank you to all who supported the event this year.

It is just over a month since we took to the roads of Norfolk and at the risk of repeating ourselves we would like to impress upon you, that whatever your involvement was, whether it was taking part, getting the church ready, providing the much-appreciated refreshments or sponsoring friends, family and neighbours, without your input the day would not be the success that it is. We would not be able to raise the much-needed money that it generates, and communities would not be able to show-case their churches, chapels and meeting houses.

We have already started processing the payments and we are almost at the £40,000 mark but there is a long way to go if we are going to build on the £122,000 that we raised last year. Thank you to everyone who has already sent in their sponsorship money and/or donations and thank you to the Church Wardens and Treasurers who have sent in their paperwork. It is our aim to receive all money in by the middle of November, so we would encourage you to take this newsletter as the inspiration to send in your money and paperwork to us. The faster we receive the sponsorship and donated money, the faster we can allocate the funds to the churches.

You can send your sponsorship, via cheque to the Trust Office at Norfolk Churches Trust, Wood Farm, Foxley Road, Themelthorpe, NR20 5PU. If, however, you would like to pay your sponsorship online, please click on this DONATE button to take you straight to our website. This button is visible at the top right of every page of the website. In the reason for donation box please state that your payment is for the Sponsored Bike Ride, and please let us know which church you are raising funds for, you will then be given the option to pay via credit card or BACS. Please note that we will still require a copy of your sponsor form, or unfortunately we will be unable to claim any eligible Gift Aid, please either post your form to the NCT office, address as earlier, or email to finance@norfolkchurchestrust.org.uk.

Great photographs and stories of the day have already started to come in, we have included some here. To see all the photographs click on this link. Please do continue feeding back to us, it is how we will improve and grow. We would really like to know if any of you tried out our new suggested routes, and if you did, what did you think of them. If you have photographs of your day and would like to share them, please do send them to us by email media@norfolkchurchestrust.org.uk .They will automatically be considered for a £50 prize and publication in the EDP. We do ask that they are the high resolution, and we assume, unless you say otherwise, that you are happy for them to be used in our publicity and on our website. If you would like them to be acknowledged please do send in the wording to be used.

Our Bike Ride, Walk & Drive Committee meeting is already planned to discuss next year’s 50th Anniversary of the Trust, so any thoughts would be very gratefully received. We have already been advised that more signage to advertise the event is needed in certain areas and so we are actioning that now. We will keep you posted on our plans for The Bike Ride, Walk & Drive 2026.
