Kate Gabriel *
Kate is a Yorkshire-born artist, living in the Norfolk Broads. She painted as a hobby whilst pursuing a successful 35 year scientific career, turning to painting more seriously in 2014.
Working from a studio gallery at her home, she is inspired by wildlife, gardens, boats and the Norfolk countryside on her doorstep. She aims to capture light and colour, painting primarily in oils, both in the studio and en plein air.
She has participated in Norfolk/North Norfolk Open Studios since 2014, plein air painting events (‘A Brush with the Broads’ 2014 -2019; Paint Out Norwich 2018 – 2023), winning top awards at both.
Her work has been exhibited in local exhibitions including Norfolk Castle Museum, local galleries, and her own studio gallery in Ludham, Norfolk.
