Julia Tooley *

Julia Tooley is a professional artist working primarily in gouache, a water-based medium known for its rich opacity, vibrant colour, and distinctive velvety matte finish. Her artistic journey began after completing a degree in graphic design as a mature student, an experience that rekindled her passion for fine art. Largely self-taught as a painter, Julia has developed a distinctive style rooted in observation, colour, and atmosphere.

Julia has a particular passion for still life, drawn to the quiet beauty of everyday objects, but she also loves to paint scenes of Norwich—a city that continues to inspire her work.

She sells original paintings and prints through her website, as well as through exhibitions, shops, and galleries. Alongside her studio practice, she teaches gouache painting in and around Norwich, sharing her enthusiasm for the medium with others.

She is always happy to discuss commissioned work, working closely with clients in a relaxed and open way to create something truly personal.
