Turbulent Times at St. Peter’s Church, Ketteringham – Tour by Canon Phillip McFadyen

Date: 18 October 2024 11am - 12.30 and 2pm - 3.30 £25

Canon Phillip McFadyen will give a fascinating talk, in two groups, at St. Peter’s Church, Ketteringham (NR18 9RS).    As well as being immortalized in the controversial 19th Century diaries of Sir John Boileau, Squire, and the intransigent Reverend William Andrew, the Church has connections to the trial of King Charles I and Marie Antoinette.   In addition to its turbulent history, the church has a magnificent collection of medieval and Flemish stained glass and a remarkable collection of funerary memorial tablets, the like of which can only be seen in Westminster Abbey.  St. Peter’s is a ‘park’ church to Ketteringham Hall whose interesting and varied history includes being the home of Lotus Cars founder, Sir Colin Chapman.  It is now home to various businesses.

Each Tour will be limited to 20 people at a time.

The cost is £25 per person:

Tour 1 will start at 11.00 – 12.30  This is now sold out.

Tour 2 will start at 2.00 – 3.30

Light refreshments will be provided in the Church, but if you would like a more substantial lunch or tea, contact The Orangery Tea Room – 01603 559224.

No tickets will be issued, but your name will be held on the door.  If your booked tour is full we will contact you.
