A special annual service to be held on Wednesday, July 20 at St Mary’s, West Tofts, on the Stanford military training area has been cancelled.
The military authorities have withdrawn permission for visitors to attend the church, which lies within the boundary of the training area, because of the potential fire risks in this exceptionally hot weather.
The annual service, which was planned for tomorrow (Wednesday, July 20) at 6pm, will not take place this year. It is to be hoped that the annual summer service will be held in July 2023.
Father Philip Gray, who is one of the honorary chaplains to the Norfolk Churches Trust, and the Bishop of Richborough, were due to officiate at the service.
