Platinum Jubilee Celebrations – Bellringing

In collaboration with the Church of England and the Royal Household, it has been agreed that a focus for collective bellringing should coincide with the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s on Friday 3rd June (exact time TBC, but likely to be in the morning).   For more national information visit:

St Peter Mancroft Norwich

Norfolk has particular plans to ring out bells across the County for the Queens Platinum Jubilee Weekend. Some towers will be ringing peals, there are peals planned at St Peter Mancroft, Norwich, Norton Subcourse, Dereham, South Walsham and Shotesham. The first ever peal was rung at St Peter Mancroft on 2nd May 1715, so Norfolk is the home of English change ringing. As well as the peals there are also plans in place for ringing during village events, Reedham especially seems to have a busy day of celebrations and the bellringers are part of it.  In South Norfolk they are arranging to ring at every tower, the ringers are looking at going to each church in turn, villages/towns will be advised when to listen to hear their bells being rung.  For more information please contact the Mancroft Ringing Discovery Centre or the Norwich Diocesan Association of Ringers
