Music in Country Churches, now celebrating its thirtieth season, was set up as a charitable trust in 1989 with the active support of the Prince of Wales. The trust has two aims: to arrange weekends of music in rural churches of exceptional beauty and interest and to raise funds thereby to assist those churches with the cost of their repair and maintenance. The proceeds from the ticket sales this year will be divided evenly between the Church of St Peter and St Paul at Salle and St Andrews Church in Thurning, the tiny but thriving parish of which is attempting to raise a staggering £150,000 to repair its crumbling roof.
These three concerts which occur every six years offer an opportunity to experience musicians of international standing performing works by Schubert, Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and Haydn, amongst others.
Pre-arranged buffet suppers will also be available before and after the concert, along with light refreshments, wine and soft drinks so you can dine in the beautiful grounds surrounding the church and Salle Estate.
